This bivalve mollusk has long cylindrical shells. It dwells about 20 cm depth under the surface. From old days, this species was used as food. When the tide returns, Gould’s razor shell comes to the surface in response to the increase in salinity. Privy to this, locals would capture the animals by spreading salt among the burrows, thus emulating the condition of returning tides. Population reduction is a concern due to landfills, coastal developments, habitat loss, and overfishing.
泥の混じった砂地に多く生息している

Gould’s razor shell is often found in sandy areas mixed with mud.
