In Japan, there are three species of genus Scylla: S. paramamosain, S. serrata, and S. olivasea. Until just recently, these three species used to be considered as one species. Among the three, S. olivasea is the smallest species. The claws are very powerful, and they can break human fingers or Achilles tendon if the crab is threatened.
