- It inhabits rivers in the northern part of Okinawa. This Rhinogobius species complex does not get out to sea water, but stays in the river its whole life. Its ecology is still unclear; however, the population is decreasing due to dam construction or river construction. For near future preservation, understanding species distribution and genetic composition are urgently needed.
