- Broad-leaved forests are the habitat. Males have reddish-brown colored forewings and black on the middle section. Females have pale reddish-brown forewings and gray on the middle section. It is said that the Japanese common name was derived from the way the male’s black mark resembles a mustache. This species mainly feeds on small insects caught on the ground and on trees. Its curious nature sometimes brings itself around human beings.
