Species Distribution
Okinawa, Ishigaki, and Iriomote Islands. Outside of Okinawa Prefecture, this species is distributed in areas such as Amami-oshima Island, and Tropical areas of Indian Ocean, and Western and Central Pacific

This species lives in estuaries where mangroves grow, and hides under rocks in the mud during low tide. These habitats suffer from red soil contamination and poor water quality as a result of nearby construction, which has a negative impact on localized populations. A large part of its ecology is still unknown.
