Species Distribution
In Okinawa prefecture, the area includes Iriomote, Ishigaki, Miyako and Okinawa Islands. In other part of Japan, the distribution areas include the areas from Noto Peninsula to Kyushu. Other distribution areas include Indian Ocean and the western Pacific in tropics and subtropics.
Okinawa Red List of Threatened Species:Near Threatened
This species inhabits infralittoral zone and lower intertidal zones where bottoms are covered with sand and gravel. Its characteristic eyestalks, stick like eyes, are significantly long.
