- Southern Shikoku region in Japan, Southeast Asia
- Its vivid blue-colored wings are characteristic of this species. Coloration and patterns on the wings varies based on locality. Those in mainland Japan are yellowish, those in the Yaeyama Group are the bluest, and the ones in the Okinawa Group are colored in-between. Adults lay eggs on trees of Michelia compressa and M. compressa var. formosana, and larvae feed on the tree leaves.
