This species is a beautiful green-colored frog with gold and purple dots on its back. Typically inactive, Ishikawa’s frog tends to sit in one place camouflaged in the algae growing on rocks. This frog is mysterious because of its taxonomy. No closely related animals are found yet. It is not clear if the closely related species is considered extinct or if the species evolved in the current habitat isolated from other species.

※Please note!
Odorrana ishikawae is an endangered species and Okinawa Prefecture Natural Monument. Please refer to the Act on Conservation of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, and Okinawa Prefecture"s law for the Protection of Cultural Properties.
