- Okinawa Red List of Threatened Species: Endangered
- It is generally known as a game fish on Okinawa Island. This is an endemic species found on Okinawa and Ishigaki Islands, Japan. This species inhabits mainly bay areas or brackish water around estuaries; therefore, it is rarely identified in coral reefs. Construction poses a significant threat to larvae resulting in a population decline. Additionally, overfishing has caused a decline in breeding populations.
