Species Distribution
In Okinawa, Iheya, Izena, Kohama, Kume, Okinawa, Tokashiki and Zamami,Islands. In other areas of Japan, the distribution areas include Amamioshima and Tokunoshima Islands.

This is an endemic species found in Ryukyu Islands. It naturally grows in nutrient-deficient fields and well-lit forest beds populated with short Pinus lunchuensis trees. Land development and habitat invasion by exotic species, Sphagneticola trilobata, are reducing its habitat areas.
