- In Japan, Pycnonotus sinensis orii is known to be a native species in Yaeyama Islands. It inhabits forests and cultivated areas in flatlands feeding on insects and fruit. Recently, Pycnonotus sinens that seems to be introduced from Taiwan is identified on Okinawa Island and islands located in the vicinity.
